An Arizona man allegedly recruited another man to sexually assault his fiancée inside her home, only for the mother of two to fight off the attacker and chase him down the street, according to police.

Zarian Dyer, 23, was arrested Thursday after investigators accused him of enlisting Adrian Ayala, 20, to attack Bella Torres. The Buckeye Police Department detailed the allegations, which were also reported by Arizona’s Family.

Police said Ayala arrived at Torres’ home in Buckeye, about 30 miles outside Phoenix, at approximately 6 p.m. on Oct. 16. Torres was inside the residence with her two young children when the encounter began.

According to court records obtained by the Merced Sun-Star, Torres noticed a “random man” poking his head through her front door. The disturbing appearance came only minutes after her fiancé had left the home to pick up groceries.

Torres’ son, who was 2 months old, was asleep in a bedroom at the time. Her daughter, who was 17 months old, was standing behind Torres when she confronted Ayala, who allegedly asked if he could use the bathroom.

Ayala allegedly kicked open the front door and forced his way into the residence. Torres told investigators that he “began to choke her by grabbing her by the neck,” according to the court records.

The struggle then moved into the bathroom, where Ayala allegedly locked himself inside with Torres. Records cited by the Merced Sun-Star state that he “began trying to undo the button on the victim’s pants but was unable to” before groping her.

Torres continued fighting and eventually dragged her alleged attacker out of the home and into the front yard. The confrontation then spilled into the driveway as she refused to surrender to him.

Home security footage obtained by AZ Family reportedly captured Torres pushing Ayala away, slapping him in the face and shouting at him. The footage also showed him leaning his weight into her as she struggled against him.

During the attack, Ayala allegedly made a claim that immediately pointed back toward Torres’ fiancé. “Your boyfriend told me you’d be into this,” Ayala told her, according to the records.

Torres ultimately fought Ayala off and chased him down the street as he fled from the scene. Police had not yet arrived when he escaped from the area, according to the report.

Authorities arrested Ayala the following day at his home in Goodyear, about 15 miles away. Investigators then allegedly discovered that the assault had been orchestrated by Dyer, the victim’s own fiancé, police said.

Ayala claimed he went to Torres’ home after meeting Dyer online and reaching an agreement with him to sexually assault the unsuspecting woman. Detectives seized Ayala’s electronic devices and said they uncovered communications between Ayala and Dyer concerning the planned attack.

Dyer was charged with aggravated assault, sexual abuse, attempted sexual assault, kidnapping and conspiracy. Ayala was charged with kidnapping, sexual abuse, burglary and aggravated assault, according to court records obtained by the Merced Sun-Star.

Ayala’s attorney told the judge that the victim’s boyfriend brought his client to the residence for a “role-play scenario,” according to the report. The attorney argued that Ayala did not intend to commit a felony and believed Torres had consented.

Ayala’s trial has been scheduled for April 1, 2027, court records show. It remains unknown when Dyer is expected to appear in court.

Investigators said they still do not know what allegedly drove Dyer to arrange the attack against his fiancée. The case now centers on the alleged planning communications, the accusations against both men and Torres’ fierce resistance inside and outside her home.
