A new genealogy report has added a remarkable twist to the years of comparisons between Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe.

According to the global family history platform MyHeritage, the two actresses are distant relatives whose shared family connection stretches back centuries, as reported by Fox News.

MyHeritage determined that Sweeney and Monroe are ninth cousins once removed.

Their family trees reportedly converge through a shared ancestor named Ezra Perry, an early settler in Sandwich, Massachusetts, who lived from approximately 1625 to 1689.

The family connection runs through Sweeney’s father, Steven Sweeney, and Monroe’s biological father, Charles Stanley Gifford, according to the research.

The finding gives the actresses a genealogical bond beyond the public comparisons involving their appearances, fashion and fame.

“People have always drawn parallels between Sydney Sweeney and Marilyn Monroe, but seeing their paths align on a deeper level inspired us to look for a real bond in the MyHeritage archives,” Roi Mandel, director of research at MyHeritage, said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.

“Uncovering their shared branch was incredible,” Mandel continued. “It’s a powerful reminder that humanity is one vast family tree, and when we dig deep, we uncover how remarkably interconnected we all are.”

Representatives for Sweeney did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment about the discovery.

The report arrives after years of public comparisons between Sweeney and Monroe, particularly around their glamorous images and the intense attention surrounding their careers and personal lives.

Both actresses have been associated with blonde bombshell imagery and Old Hollywood glamour. Sweeney has also leaned into Monroe’s celebrated fashion on multiple red carpets, wearing gowns that recalled some of the screen icon’s most recognizable looks.

In February, the “Euphoria” star attended the Santa Barbara International Film Festival in an ivory Ceil Chapman gown.

The vintage design closely resembled the dress Monroe wore on the cover of Life magazine in 1952.

Sweeney attended the 41st Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival at The Arlington Theatre on Feb. 8, 2026, in Santa Barbara, California.

Her appearance offered another vivid example of the Monroe comparisons that had emerged well before the genealogy report.

Monroe wore her white gown for the April 7, 1952, issue of Life. The dress featured an off-the-shoulder neckline, dramatic ruching, a cinched waist, and a decorative brooch positioned at the neckline.

Sweeney’s stylist, Molly Dickson, sourced the ivory Ceil Chapman gown from the Beverly Hills boutique Timeless Vixen.

Sweeney completed her look with a brooch that also echoed the styling of Monroe’s famous Life cover appearance.

That festival outfit was not Sweeney’s only fashion tribute to Monroe. At the December premiere of “The Housemaid,” she wore a white gown with a sweeping skirt that recalled Monroe’s famous dress from the subway grate scene in “The Seven Year Itch.”

The actresses have also been connected through a separate reported parallel involving Judaism.

Monroe converted to Judaism in 1956 before marrying playwright Arthur Miller, while a Page Six report claimed Sweeney was considering converting amid her relationship with Scooter Braun.

Sweeney’s representatives did not immediately comment on the Page Six report. No comment from the actress was included regarding either that claim or the genealogical findings presented by MyHeritage.

Although the newly reported family connection reaches back roughly 400 years, it adds a concrete ancestral link to comparisons that have followed Sweeney during her rise to fame.

What began as comparisons involving glamour, clothing, and public attention now includes a distant branch on the actresses’ family trees.
