Children’s YouTube and Netflix personality Ms. Rachel is facing sharp criticism from concerned parents over political activism that critics say has overtaken her educational mission, as reported by Breitbart.

One parent accused the entertainer of promoting a false Hamas narrative while introducing toddlers to ideas that erase basic sex categories.

Rachel Accurso, better known through her online persona Ms. Rachel, has become the center of a political controversy.

The scrutiny intensified after she began sharing views about Gaza and the war involving Israel and Hamas.

The children’s entertainer has also faced accusations that she boosted Hamas figures and promoted claims later shown to be false.

Bethany Mandel, a Washington Examiner contributor, author, and homeschooling mother of six, criticized Accurso’s outlook during an interview with Fox News.

“This is the case for a lot of liberals,” Mandel said.

“They don’t see it as a political perspective at all. They just see the world in black and white and what they are doing is so clearly correct.”

Mandel argued that creators with this outlook rarely move beyond their ideological “bubble” to engage with people who hold opposing views.

She said Accurso focuses on only one account of the conflict and rejects competing perspectives.

“It’s important to understand that she only cares about one narrative,” Mandel said of Accurso.

“She only cares about this very false narrative where what’s happening in Gaza is a genocide, falsely categorizing it as such.”

Mandel also accused Accurso of circulating unreliable casualty figures and accepting claims from Hamas without sufficient skepticism.

She amplifies numbers that are not real, the numbers of deceased children, the numbers of people who have died in general, she’s accepting a Hamas narrative on every single thing and amplifying it,” she said.

Last year, Accurso referred to Palestinian photojournalist Motaz Azaiza as her “friend.”

The description came days before Azaiza admitted that he concealed footage showing Israeli hostages being beaten by a crowd in Gaza on October 7, 2023.

Accurso attracted additional scrutiny earlier this year after she appeared to “like” a comment containing the words “free America from the Jews.”

The source does not include a response from Accurso to that controversy or to Mandel’s criticism.

“She is serving as their mouthpiece for a lot of Americans, not just children and not just the adults that follow her,” Mandel told Fox News.

She also said Accurso “cares more about activism than education.”

Mandel broadened her criticism by pointing to Accurso’s decision to host a nonbinary musician as a guest on her program.

She argued that exposing toddlers to ideas that blur male and female categories could interfere with how young children first begin organizing and understanding the world around them.

“This is something that’s really very damaging to children who are in the early stages of development, because one of the first ways that children learn to organize the world around them is by categorization, and the easiest way for a toddler to categorize the world around them is by female and male,” Mandel said.

According to Mandel, erasing sex categories for children “absolutely will have detrimental consequences.”

She warned against changing basic developmental milestones in an area she described as largely unexplored within early childhood education and socialization.

“This is what Donald Rumsfeld talked about, the unknown unknowns,” Mandel said. “When we take that ability to categorize away from children, we’ve never done that in human history before.”

Mandel ultimately urged parents to pay close attention when selecting entertainers for their children.

She suggested that families might overlook certain political or gender related messages but eventually encounter a position from Accurso that makes them uncomfortable.

“Parents need to choose these entertainers wisely,” Mandel said.

“Perhaps parents don’t care about the gender stuff, perhaps parents don’t care about what she’s saying about Gaza — but if they are not ultra-ultra-liberal, Ms. Rachel will eventually land on something that they do feel discomfort with.”
