Spike Lee became the center of a tense confrontation inside Yankee Stadium before Game 2 of the Yankees’ wild card series against the Red Sox on Wednesday night, as reported by The New York Post.

Staff members had to restrain the famed director after his encounter with a fan in the Legends Suite dining area escalated.

Lee entered the Legends Suite at approximately 6:30 p.m. ahead of the game.

The 69-year-old filmmaker was initially amiable with those around him, posing for selfies and welcoming interactions with other people in the dining area.

He even left open seats at his table in case anyone wanted to sit with him.

The atmosphere changed after one person approached Lee and asked for a selfie while making an additional request.

According to the account, the person requested that Lee say “F–k Palestine.”

The remark prompted Lee to get up from his table and seek assistance from security.

Lee became angry with the individual, who was ultimately removed from the area.

During the confrontation, the director could be seen wearing red Yankees gear as staff members restrained him.

“Why’d you come over to me?” an agitated Lee shouted at an unidentified person while he was being held back.

The tense exchange unfolded within the Legends Suite before the Yankees and Red Sox took the field.

A man wearing a blue sport jacket also became involved in addressing the situation.

He pointed toward someone seated at a nearby table and made it clear that the person needed to leave.

“You’ve gotta go. You’ve gotta go,” the man told the individual. The person whose request sparked the confrontation was indeed kicked out of the dining area.

A source strongly criticized the person’s behavior during the incident. The source said the individual was “absolutely wrong,” and “ruined our f–king meal.”

Requests for comment were made to representatives for both Lee and the Yankees.

Neither Lee’s representatives nor the organization immediately returned those requests.

The heated scene came one night after Lee attended the opening game of the first round series between the Yankees and Boston.

He was seated behind the Yankees’ dugout during Tuesday night’s matchup.

Lee also shared a photograph from the evening on social media. The image showed him alongside his daughter, Satchel, during the series opener at Yankee Stadium.

The director, known for “Do The Right Thing,” has long been a familiar presence at sporting events in New York.

His attendance has extended beyond baseball and the Yankees.

Lee has regularly followed the Knicks, including traveling from city to city during the team’s championship run last season.

His visible support of New York teams has made him a recurring figure around the city’s major sporting events.

Before Wednesday’s confrontation, Lee’s appearance in the Legends Suite had been marked by friendly exchanges.

He took selfies with anyone who approached and kept room available at his table for other people who might want to join him.

That welcoming mood ended when the fan combined a selfie request with the demand directed at Lee.

The director responded by getting up, looking for security, and confronting the situation before staff restrained him.

Security removed the individual before Game 2 began, ending the disruption inside the dining area.

Lee’s representatives and the Yankees had not immediately offered further comment about the encounter.
